WELCOME TO CASAS CHELONIAS

Some places invite
you to exhale.

Between the desert hills and a beautiful bay, Casas Chelonias invites a more mindful way to spend time. A small, secluded place on Peru’s northern coast, where the natural world sets the pace.

Here, you can wake to an ocean view, pause in the shade, and walk into the hills for a quiet moment. Come with people you love, or gather a small group around something meaningful.

Our name is inspired by Chelonia mydas, the green sea turtle that calls the waters of El Ñuro home.

THE SANCTUARY

Take a walk.
Find a little stillness.

Above the houses, a trail leads into a dry forest landscape and a place known as the Sanctuary. It’s somewhere to pause, meditate, and take in the quiet of the hills.

Palo santo grows in this landscape, and small foxes sometimes appear. Walk gently, leave the trees undisturbed, and let nature unfold in its own time.

GENTLY OFF THE GRID

A simpler way
to be here.

This is a secluded, solar-powered place. A little awareness helps keep life here comfortable and considerate of the landscape.

What does an off-grid stay mean?

Solar panels power the houses, with a backup generator available. Water comes from two cisterns, and a biodigester handles wastewater. Use water and electricity thoughtfully, keep paper and wipes out of toilets, and check with the host before bringing high-power appliances. Drinking and cooking water should be bottled or supplied in a drinking-water container.

Can I stay connected?

Starlink provides Wi-Fi and internet. As with any remote location, service can vary. Confirm your needs with the host if reliable connectivity is essential to your stay.

How many people can stay?

The property welcomes up to 14 guests across the two houses and bungalow. All guests must sleep in bedrooms. Sofas, tents, sleeping bags, and inflatable beds are not permitted. Confirm your group’s room allocation with the host before booking.

Where is Casas Chelonias?

The property is in El Ñuro South, near the former Hotel Nirvana, on the coastal road toward Cabo Blanco. The guide places it about 10 minutes south of the El Ñuro entrance and about 20 minutes from Los Órganos. Confirm the map pin, current road conditions, and final entry instructions with the host before traveling.

Is there parking?

There are two garage spaces and four covered outdoor parking spaces. Coordinate arrivals with the host. The property gate closes after 9 p.m., so late arrivals and evening outings need advance arrangements.

What should I bring?

Bring sun protection, walking shoes, a light layer for breezy evenings, and your own beach towels. Bath towels stay inside the houses. Plan groceries and bottled drinking water in advance; Los Órganos has a market, restaurants, and cafés. The initial supply of water and basic toiletries is provided, with further supplies arranged by guests.

Are meals, wellness sessions, or excursions included?

Accommodation includes furnished spaces, equipped kitchens, bed linen, bath towels, Wi-Fi, a first-aid kit, and on-site staff. Meals, wellness sessions, excursions, and transfers need separate confirmation. Room cleaning and towel changes are weekly; additional service can be coordinated.

How do I pay for my stay?

Payment is currently arranged directly with the host by bank deposit. He provides bank details privately after confirming availability and a quote. For an international payment, ask him to confirm the supported transfer method, currency, and any bank fees. Preparing an inquiry on this website does not make a payment or reserve dates.

When are check-in and check-out?

Check-in begins at 1 p.m. and check-out is at 10 a.m. Ask the host about late check-out availability and any additional charge.

What kind of stay is this best suited to?

This is a quiet place for rest. Parties and celebrations are not permitted. Pets, indoor smoking, and open fires are not allowed. Do not feed wild animals, and rinse off beach sand before entering the houses. Guests and any visitors must be registered with the host in advance.
